Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description:
As Principal your responsibilities will include:

Contribute to the development of the strategy for the International Governance, Risk & Assurance – advisory authority
Manage and lead the risk management function i.e. develop and maintain Kumba’s integrated risk model, liquidity risk management, criteria for management reporting system, Insurance SLA management – advisory authority
Manage control and monitoring systems, standards and processes for quality assurance
Manage and ensure adherence with the Group Compliance Programme
Manage and lead the assurance function i.e. reporting, adequate project assurance and documentation for compliance, combined assurance – internal & external audit support, audit planning and strategy – advisory authority
Manage policies & guidelines and recommend, implement and maintain process improvements – advisory authority
Contribute to budgeting, reporting and planning of function
Manage SLAs with Anglo American within functional responsibilities – advisory authority
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, and subsequent reporting – monitoring authority
Oversee the development and management of the compliance risk management plan (CRMP) process for all relevant compliance standards – monitoring authority
Review relevant compliance reports for stakeholders (Exco, Board committees and KIO Board) – monitoring authority
Responsible for the quarterly Management Risk Committee
Attendance at all Board and committee meetings and presentation of the risks relevant to each committee and consolidated risk register for the SIOC and Kumba Boards;
Convening the annual risk workshop for the Kumba Board;
Allocate work, manage performance (contractors included), train direct reports and maintain discipline in section – management authority
Organise and attend Business Impact Assessment workshops as required to periodically review the adequacy and resilience of Business Continuity / Emergency Planning arrangements in place and ensure agreed action strategies are implemented
This role is in the Finance Department Centurion at a Band 5 reporting to the Company Secretary

Qualifications:
You will need to have the following:

Bachelor/Honours degree in Finance
Relevant Post graduate qualification
Strong relevant experience in a Finance
Extensive experience in developing strategies and risk models
Extensive experience in developing governance structures and frameworks
Extensive exposure in a mining business process environment
